Crime rate drops in Georgia, reveals Interior Ministry

The number of crimes reported in Georgia is decreasing.

Today the Ministry of Internal Affairs released latest crime statistics for the country for last month and the period of January to October 2015. In these 10 months fewer crimes were committed than in the same 10 months of 2014.

Between January and October 2015, there were 29,500 crimes registered in Georgia. Of this, 15,245 cases (57.6 percent) were solved, said the Ministry.

Year-on-year (y/y) the number of crimes committed between January and October 2015 was 3.8 percent lower than in 2014, said officials.

Latest monthly crime statistics was also released by the Ministry.

In October 2015, 3,486 crimes were recorded and 1,565 cases (44.8 percent) were solved. To compare, the number of crime reported this year was a slight increase of 0.7 percent than the same time in 2014.

The statistics were compiled from information provided by the Ministry and other Georgian investigative agencies including the General Prosecutor’s Office, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Corrections.
