The Prime Minister of Georgia has spoken out about the recent Russian aggression in Ukraine and is calling on the world to respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

"The international community must not allow a large-scale confrontation and forceful change of borders,” Irakli Garibashvili said.

The Georgian Prime Minister released a special statement today regarding the Ukraine crisis which expressed his concern about the ongoing situation.

"We are concerned about the reports of direct military aggression in the eastern regions of Ukraine. It is necessary that everyone respects Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, its right to establish order, provide full protection of each citizens rights and freedoms and their deserving future on the territory of Ukraine,” the statement read.

Garibashvili noted all efforts should be made by Georgia, its citizens and nations all around the globe to ensure peace and stability in Ukraine.

"Once again Georgia strongly supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine in its internationally recognised borders. Based on these exact principles, we believe the difficult situation in Ukraine should be overcome,” the statement read.
