Ten Georgian citizens gathering capers near the occupation line have been detained by Russian border guards for allegedly trying to illegally cross the border into South Ossetia.
Eight people were detained today and two were captured yesterday.
Russian border troops have been extremely active near the so-called border of late. More than 20 Georgian citizens have been captured in eight separate incidences by Russian troops in the past two weeks.
All of the ten citizens recently captured live in the Sachkhere village, which is located near the occupation line.
The two men who were detained yesterday have been named as Vasil Kiladze and Roman Loladze.
Head of the Sachkhere Sakrebuli Inga Zambaxidze said the ten detainees were still being held unlawfully.
"A trial will be held in Tskhinvali [capital of South Ossetia], after which will they be released,” she said.
All ten people have been accused of illegally crossing the so-called border into South Ossetia.
The families of the detainees have not been contacted by their loved ones or South Ossetian authorities.
