A 54-year-old Georgian peasant has been detained by Russian occupants in Tamarasheni, a South Ossetian village.
A Kareli municipality representative told journalists Russian soldiers had left their post and travelled 60-80m into Georgian-controlled territory last night.
The Analytical Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said 54-year-old Otar Kokoshvili mistakenly crossed administrative border, as there were not barbed wire fences or signs marking the territory.
Kokoshvili has been taken to a detention cell while negotiations are taking place via the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) hotline.
