Georgian government presents the education system action plan

The action plan presented by the Minister of Education and PM Giorgi Kvirikashvili today introduces several changes at every stage of the educational system aiming to increase the quality of education in Georgia.
In terms of general education changes include supporting teachers and their professional development, better quality books for students and development of their creative thinking, as well as introducing modern technologies in schools.
We clearly understand that Georgia’s success, stability and democratic development can only be built on knowledge and education, PM Kvirikashvili said while delivering a keynote address at the presentation of the action plan attended by government representatives, students and teachers.

"We have set the goal to make the education system more oriented on market demand and major locomotive for economic development. Some challenges in terms of access to education still exist but the major challenge is to ensure the quality of education at every level of the system,” PM Kvirikashvili said.
He also underlined the importance of vocational education which is one of the major priorities for the government under the educational reform.
vocational education is one of the top priority directions under the education reform. In cooperation with the private sector and international partners, we are adopting a very successful model of vocational education. On one hand, vocational education will focus on international market standards. On the other hand, it will suit the needs of individual regions. The new draft law on vocational education has already been developed to ensure the alignment and compatibility of Georgia's system of vocational education with the unified European educational environment," the PM stated.
As for the action plan itself, there are 12 directions in the document aiming to support the Georgian education system.
The Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili announced at today’s governmental meeting that the government is taking steps to create a new model for vocation education which will be based on German, Austrian and Swiss experience in the field.
Kvirikashvili spoke about the changes which will be carried out.
About 15 public schools in Georgia will be turned into more energy-efficient buildings through a pilot project that introduces energy-saving solutions for schools.
Georgia’s government has approved a set of measures to improve student safety at schools across the country, with both monitoring and training efforts set to be stepped up for the goal.
Institutional cooperation between the universities of the two countries will expand joint educational programs and the issuance of French diplomas in Georgia.
The rehabilitation of these 30 schools will ensure that 15,200 students have a better environment for studying. 15 million USD will be allocated for renovation works.
