Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and James O'Brien, the Assistant Secretary of the United States Department of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, on Saturday discussed the “robust strategic partnership” and the importance of “further enhancing” ties between the two countries.

In his social media post after the meeting on the margins of the Munich Security Conference, Darchiashvili called the meeting with O’Brien “insightful”, emphasising his country “deeply valued” the US’s unwavering support to Georgia’s foreign policy priorities.

In his turn, the US Assistant Secretary said his country looked forward to working with Darchiashvili and Georgia’s newly approved Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s Government in 2024 “to strengthen our bilateral relationship and advance Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration”.
