James O’Brien, the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, on Thursday said the Georgian Government had “put in effort” at ensuring reforms, particularly over the past months.
In his speech at the Marshall Fund, O’Brien noted over 85 percent of the Georgian citizens were supporting reforms and the country joining the European Union.
Georgia continually says what they want is reform and entry into the EU. That's what we stand with. The Georgian Government has really put in effort at reform measures particularly over the last months and we appreciate it”, O’Brien said.
The official also added Georgia was a “critical security partner” for the US in the Black Sea region.
