Oliver Varhelyi, the European Union Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, on Thursday congratulated Irakli Kobakhidze on being approved as the country’s Prime Minister.
In a social media message Varhelyi noted the bloc would continue to support Georgia.
“Congratulations to the newly appointed Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze. 2024 is a crucial year for the country as its people will head to elections”, the official said.

The Georgian Parliament on Thursday approved Kobakhidze, the former Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party, as the head of the Government with 84 votes in favour and 10 against.
