Mamuka Mdinaradze, the Executive Secretary of the ruling party Georgian Dream party, on Saturday claimed the GD had attained a “solid majority” of seats in the next Parliament of the country after preliminary results released by the Central Election Commission. 

At a news briefing, Mdinaradze thanked GD supporters who “took responsibility for a European, traditional, Christian future” for the country, as well as “everyone who turned out for the elections”.

Other top officials of the party also made their comments after polling stations closed across the country at 8pm, thanking the public for their backing in the elections.

In its latest update,the CEC  published preliminary results of the parliamentary elections, with the ruling GD party leading with 53.028 percent of votes.
