Ruling party Secretary General thanks citizens for election support as exit polls announce GD victory

Kakha Kaladze, the Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream and the Mayor of the capital city of Tbilisi, on Saturday thanked citizens for their support in the general elections held throughout the day, as exit poll results by the Tbilisi-based Georgian Opinion Research Business International put the GD at 56.1 percent of the vote.

The Secretary General said “Georgia showed the entire world that Georgians are a peace-loving people”, adding members of the party would be “in service of the Georgian people”.

“We need peace, development, progress, and everyone needs to understand that Georgia will never go back to the past. Georgia will never return to the time when [the former Government] torture people,  ruined families. We want advancement [and] progress, and thanks to  each  of you for all this”, he said.

The Mayor also reminded citizens of a pledge  byBidzina Ivanishvili, the Honorary Chair and founder of the ruling party, to “serve the Georgian people”.

Kaladze vowed “we will certainly take Georgia toward Europe and the European Union, but only with dignity, pride and full of honour”.
