Georgian PM thanks citizens for election support as exit poll results released

Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of Georgia and the head of the ruling Georgian Dream party’s election staff, on Saturday thanked citizens for their support in the general elections held throughout the day, calling them “authors of this victory” following the release of the exit poll of the Tbilisi-based Georgian Opinion Research Business International that put the GD at 56.1 percent of the vote.

In his comments at the party’s Tbilisi office, Kobakhidze emphasised they “could not have achieved any success without the Georgian people standing with the Government they chose”, adding “not a single day over the past 12 years, especially the last four has been easy”, as the partyy had to “overcome many challenges”.

The Prime Minister thanked “over a million of fellow citizens” for turning out and supporting “peace, a truly bright and European future for the country”.
