Georgian customs officers seized ₾116,599 ($43,208) in undeclared gold items at the Sarpi customs checkpoint on the country's south-western border with Turkey, the Revenue Service said on Tuesday.
The Service said that undeclared gold coins, weighing 449,14 grams, and gold jewellery items, weighing 141,85 in total, had been seized during physical and luggage searches of foreign citizens at the checkpoint.
Case materials for the offence were sent to the Investigation Service of the Georgian Finance Ministry, the body added.
