Maia Omiadze, the Head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration, on Monday met with a filming crew from China Central Television to introduce them to tourist destinations in the country.

The seven-person team from CCTV is set to produce a five-part documentary series about Georgia, which will be broadcast throughout the year on the broadcaster, social networks, and online platforms, the Administration said.

The series aim to showcase Georgia's tourist products, culture, and wine to Chinese and English-speaking audiences.

We believe this project will contribute to increasing the awareness of Georgia in China and attract more Chinese travellers to the country”, Omiadze said.

The documentaries will feature the capital city of Tbilisi, eastern winemaking region of Kakheti, and western regions of Imereti, Samegrelo, and Adjara, highlighting the country's tourism potential.

Li-Huan Tsai, a producer from CCTV, emphasised the goal of introducing the country’s audience to Georgia's history and particularly its wine culture.

It is very impressive that we met a lot of Chinese tourists during the five-day filming period in Georgia, and I think our documentary series will further promote the arrival of more Chinese visitors to the country. I think many Chinese people will learn about Georgia after the broadcast”, Tsai said.

The Administration noted CCTV's worldwide audience exceeded 1.2 billion.
