From Sea to Mountain, a hiking festival set to run for the first time in western Georgia’s Adjara region, has attracted about 100 hikers, the Tourism Department of the region said on weekend.

The 45-km route, spanning five days, will commence on July 24 from Chirukhi mountain and close on July 28 at the Alpine Botanical Garden. The route threads through an alpine zone and connects two highland municipalities of the region – Khulo and Shuakhevi.

Participants, selected based on their trekking expertise and possession of appropriate gear, will be guided with planned stops at natural and cultural landmarks including Shratiani and Shuamta lakes, remains of Khikhani Fort, an alpine garden and a green lake.

Organised by the Tourism Product Development Agency of the Department, the festival aims to spotlight Adjara’s tourist routes and promote hiking in the region.
