Chinese influencers, media explore Georgia’s Adjara region

Influencers and journalists from China, including a descendant of renowned tea entrepreneur Lao Jin Zhao known for introducing tea culture to Georgia’s western Adjara region, have visited the region on a tour organised by the location’s Tourism Department.

During their trip, the group explored key tourist attractions and visited Zhao’s former country house in Chakvi, as well as museums of the Nobel Brothers and historian Khariton Akhvlediani in Batumi, which showcase items related to Zhao.

At the Batumi Botanical Garden, the guests were treated to a reenactment of a lunch inspired by the entrepreneur, complete with a presentation featuring Georgian tea and traditional dishes.

The Department noted plans for the restoration of Zhao’s house in Chakvi were in motion.

The body added it had hosted 25 tours this year, with about 100 journalists and influencers invited to the region. Adjara’s marine and mining tourism products have also been highlighted in over 15 target countries.
