Police arrest one for premeditated murder of spouse, mother-in-law in Rustavi

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia on Wednesday said law enforcement officers had arrested one individual on the charge of premeditated murder of his wife and mother-in-law in Rustavi, a city south-east of capital Tbilisi.
The Ministry said the arrest had been made for “premeditated murder under aggravating circumstances against two family members”.
The body added its investigation had established the arrested offender, a man aged under 30 who was arrested by the police at the scene, had shot the women with a rifle on Nodar Dumbadze Street in the city.
A witness told Interpressnews she heard five gunshots and found the bodies of a middle-aged woman and a young woman with the alleged shooter.
The witness also said the deceased women were with a toddler, who was taken by an ambulance.
The crime is punishable by 16 to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
