The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia on Thursday said it had charged one individual for gender-based premeditated murder of his wife in the country’s western Shuakhevi municipality.
The Office said an investigation carried out by the Ministry of Internal Affairs had established the individual had stabbed his wife with a sharp object “in various parts of her body” last week, before attempting suicide.
The body said the body of the victim was found in the area of Nenia village in the municipality, while the perpetrator was arrested on Tuesday by law enforcement officers in a hospital where he remained unconscious.
The crime is punishable by 16 to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
