Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Thursday said topics that “unite strategic interests” of Georgia and Turkey would be discussed in a meeting between Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during the former’s official visit.

Darchiashvili noted Turkey was a “strategic partner” for his Government and added the visit of the PM would “give a strong impetus to the close relations” between the two countries.

Turkey is our special friend, a strategic partner country for Georgia. We have very strong, close, friendly relations, both between authorities and governments, and our people-to-people relations are special”, he said.

Kobakhidze started his official visit to the country on Thursday.
