Georgian FM to discuss bolstering strategic partnership in Turkey visit

Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, who is visiting Turkey, will meet the country’s top officials on Thursday to discuss ways of further strengthening the strategic partnership between the states, the Georgian foreign office said.
Scheduled discussions with Hakan Fidan, his Turkish counterpart, and Numan Kurtulmuş, the Chairman of the Turkish Parliament, will also centre around exploring avenues for further cooperation in various sectors.
The sides will address the current bilateral agenda between the two nations,before the visit ends later on Thursday.
Ilia Darchiashvili, the candidate for the post of Foreign Minister of Georgia, on Wednesday highlighted the Government’s commitment to mediate for peace in the South Caucasus region and reintegrate it's own Russian-occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) regions only through peaceful means.

Hakan Fidan, the Turkish Foreign Minister on Thursday said Georgia “holds a special place” as Turkey’s neighbour and strategic partner, following the meeting with his Georgian counterpart Ilia Darchiashvili, who is on an official visit to the country.
The strategic partnership between Georgia and Turkey, especially on the background of the ongoing geopolitical developments across the South Caucasus region, was discussed on Thursday by Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and Numan Kurtulmuş, the Speaker of the Grand Assembly of Turkey.
