Georgian Parliament Speaker, Italian Ambassador discuss further advancement of bilateral ties

The Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and Massimiliano D’Antuono, the newly appointed Ambassador of Italy to Georgia, on Thursday discussed prospects of further advancing bilateral ties in economy, trade, investments, infrastructure projects, education, culture and other sectors.

At the introductory meeting, hosted in the Parliament of Georgia, Papuashvili and D’Antuono positively assessed the recent dynamics of relations between the two countries, the Parliament press office said.

The significance of high-level visits, including parliamentary exchanges, between was highlighted by the sides, with the Parliament Speaker emphasising the “fruitful outcomes” of his official visit to Italy last year.

D’Antuono congratulated Georgia on receiving the European Union membership candidate status in December and affirmed his country’s readiness to support it in accession talks.

He also noted the importance of 2024, as an election year, for both Georgia and the EU.
