Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Saturday thanked Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze for “immediately” visiting Azerbaijan after his appointment as the Head of the Government and once again congratulated him on being approved as the PM.
At the joint press briefing, held as part of the Georgian PM’s visit to Azerbaijan, Aliyev highlighted the “great importance” of the visit of the Head of the Government of a “neighbouring, friendly” Georgia and noted after the visit the relationship between the two states would “grow into a great friendship, since the people already have a friendly ties”.
With your support, we, two friendly and brotherly countries, will move forward together and solve all issues together”, the Azerbaijani President told Kobakhidze.
Aliyev emphasised that both he and the Georgian PM once again affirmed their support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the two countries, pledging to “always” continue this support.
No country's sovereignty and territory can be changed, the norms of international law must be the same for all, and discrimination must not be practised”, he added, noting both his country and Georgia had made “important statements” supporting each other in international organisations.
The Georgian PM is on his first official visit to Azerbaijan, together with the Georgian delegation, which includes Levan Davitashvili, the Vice PM and Economy Minister, and Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili.
