Uwe Beyer, the Race Director of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation, on Sunday praised the organisers of the Snowboard Cross World Cup, which was held in Georgia’s ski resort of Gudauri for the first time this weekend, by calling them “real professionals”.
In his comments to the media, Beyer said the FIS was “very satisfied” with the organisation of the tournament and also highlighted the “great infrastructure” in Gudauri.
Everyone is very diligent and full of enthusiasm. [...] I am sure this will be the best event of all seasons”, he emphasised.
The FIS official added that hosting the World Cup “globally” popularised the “white mountains of the Caucasus”.
About 90 athletes from 17 countries have participated in the event in Gudauri and the final stage of the tournament will be hosted on Didveli Mountain in Georgia’s ski resort of Bakuriani from February 10 to February 11.
Georgia’s ski resort of Gudauri will be once again marked as a new location on the world map by hosting the Snowboard Cross World Cup for the first time this weekend, Irakli Burchuladze, the Director of Mountain Trails Agency said on Friday.
Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili on Wednesday said the country’s popular ski resort of Gudauri would welcome visitors with new infrastructure worth ₾70 million ($26mln), in comments officially launching winter season in the resort.
Georgia’s winter resort Gudauri is hosting a new festival Giz-Gizi, organised by the country’s National Tourism Administration, over the weekend.
Representatives of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation and Infront Sports & Media sports marketing company have visited Georgia’s mountain resorts of Bakuriani and Gudauri to review infrastructure works and locations for broadcasting the upcoming FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup series in February, Georgia’s Mountain Trails Agency said on Monday.
Klaus Waldner, the Race Director of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation, on Saturday said the Snowboard Cross World Cup was organised in Georgia’s ski resort of Bakuriani by the country’s Mountain Trails Agency “at the highest level”.
