The Georgian national rugby team defeated Romania in the semi-final match of the 2023 Rugby Europe Championship on Sunday at the Avchala Rugby Stadium in Georgia's capital city of Tbilisi.
The national team, coached by Levan Maisashvili, claimed the victory with the final score of 31:7, following seven tries, including three tries by Merab Sharikadze, Alexander Todua and Akaki Tabutsadze, as well as one technical try. Tedo Abzhandadze also contributed with accurate conversion kicks.
The Lelos also won the Antim Cup for the 16th time, the Georgian initiative cup, which has been played in mutual matches between Georgia and Romania since 2002.
The Georgian team is set to hold the final match against Portugal on February 19 in Spain’s southwestern city of Badajoz.
