Top Croatian diplomat to review cooperation in visit to Georgia

Croatian Minister of Foreign Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman is on his first visit to Georgia and will on Thursday meet his counterpart Ilia Darchiashvili to review the cooperation between the two countries.
The Georgian foreign office said the visit was coming on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Radman will also meet other high-ranking officials of the executive and legislative authorities of Georgia, with the visit also set to involve the signing of an agreement on economic cooperation and a memorandum on diplomatic training between foreign offices.
In addition, the Croatian Minister will visit the occupation line in central Georgia to be introduced to the ongoing situation in the area, and lay a wreath at the Tbilisi memorial of those who died for the territorial integrity of the country.
The official will also offer a public lecture at Tbilisi State University, and meet representatives of local businesses.
Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Saturday said the country entered the “final phase” of the accession process to the European Union and the final decision would “inevitably” mean Georgia’s full membership of the Union.
Pawel Herczynski, the European Union Ambassador to Georgia, on Friday congratulated the country’s Government on a “positive report” on Georgia’s alignment with the European Union, released by the European Commission on Thursday.
The agenda of cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats between Georgia and Moldova and “traditionally friendly relations” between the countries were discussed on Tuesday by Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and Oleg Serebrian, the Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration.
The European Council on Monday published Conclusions on European Union priorities for cooperation with the Council of Europe 2023-2024, with the document noting the future of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine and their citizens "lies within the EU”.
