Pawel Herczynski, the European Union Ambassador to Georgia, on Friday congratulated the country’s Government on a “positive report” on Georgia’s alignment with the European Union, released by the European Commission on Thursday.
In his remarks over the report, Herczynski noted it described the state of the readiness of Georgia to become a member of the European Union in 33 different areas based on a questionnaire Georgian authorities had filled out and sent to Brussels in the summer of last year.
I want to congratulate the Georgian Government and the Georgian administration for a very positive report. [...] Of course, in some areas, further progress needs to be made and here, of course, as the European Union, we are ready to help and to assist the Georgian administration to move forward. But from my point of view, the overall assessment is very positive”, Herczynski said.
The European Commission on Thursday published its analytical reports assessing the capacity of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia to assume the obligations of EU membership.
The reports provide a detailed analysis on where the countries stand with regard to their alignment with the EU acquis, the EU's body of common rights and obligations.
