Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili will hold “high-level” meetings as part of his official visit to Azerbaijan that launched today, the Parliament press office said on Sunday.
The visit comes following an invitation by Azerbaijani counterpart Sahiba Gafarova.
Papuashvili will have meetings at both governmental and parliamentary levels during the official trip.
The delegation also includes Archil Talakvadze, the Vice Parliament Speaker, ruling Georgian Dream party MPs Greta Tsitsava, Savalan Mirzoev and Zaur Dragali, and Ramaz Nikolaishvili from the United National Movement - United Opposition faction.
Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Tuesday highlighted the “leading role” of Heydar Aliyev, the late President of Azerbaijan, in the formation of the modern country, in his comments in a special session of the Azerbaijani Parliament dedicated to the 100th birthday of the former leader of the state.
