Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Tuesday left for Brussels to hold high-level meetings at NATO, the Parliament said.
The Georgian delegation also includes Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee Chair, Irakli Beraia, the Chair of the Defence and Security Committee, and MP Ketevan Turazashvili.
Ilia Darchiashvili, the Georgian Foreign Minister, on Wednesday commenced a series of discussions with NATO officials and European counterparts in Skopje, North Macedonia, to discuss Tbilisi’s Euro-Atlantic integration and bilateral ties on the sidelines of the 30th Ministerial Council of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe.
The visiting NATO Military Committee on Thursday held its plenary session in the format of cooperation with Georgia, the Defence Ministry said.
Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze on Wednesday met Admiral Rob Bauer, the visiting Chair of the NATO Military Committee, to discuss “main directions” of cooperation with the alliance and prospects of further strengthening ties, the Ministry of Defence said.
The Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili on Thursday said the ongoing NATO Summit had sent “another signal” in support for the bloc’s open door policy, and called the adoption of a “tailored” assistance programme for Georgia a “really important” step.
The agenda of the strategic partnership between Georgia and the United States was discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Josh Huck, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State.

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, who is on a visit to Brussels, on Tuesday said the country had shown it was “ready” and “deserved” NATO membership.
Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, is scheduled to participate in a NATO-Georgia Commission meeting in Brussels on Wednesday to discuss prospects of integration into the alliance.
Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze on Wednesday met Joshua Huck, the United States Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, to discuss strategic cooperation in defence and security.
