The visiting NATO Military Committee on Thursday held its plenary session in the format of cooperation with Georgia, the Defence Ministry said.
The main areas of cooperation between Georgia and the Alliance were discussed at the joint session, which was addressed by Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze and Admiral Rob Bauer, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, as well as Chief of Georgian Defence Forces Major General Giorgi Matiashvili.
The conversation also touched on the implementation process of the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package, with the Georgian side briefing NATO officials on achieved progress, as well as providing detailed information on the security environment in the region and the challenges facing Georgia.
The plenary session, held in the country for the fifth time, reaffirms the Alliance’s “strong support” for Georgia and highlights the importance of military cooperation with NATO, the Ministry said.
