Georgia’s foreign policy, ongoing military cooperation with NATO and regional security were discussed on Thursday in a meeting between the Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and Admiral Rob Bauer, the visiting Chair of the NATO Military Committee, the Georgian Parliament said.
The officials also discussed the European Commission’s recommendation for the European Council to grant Georgia the European Union membership candidate status next month, and the subsequent steps in the integration process.

Papuashvili also reviewed the domestic political developments and the “main directions” of the Government’s foreign and security policy on the background of “current regional security challenges”, with the Georgian official extending his gratitude to Bauer for his support of the country and noted the importance of his visit.
On his part, Bauer highlighted “military readiness and stability”, as well as progress in military cooperation between Georgia and the alliance.
