Georgian Defence Minister, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State discuss strategic cooperation

Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze on Wednesday met Joshua Huck, the United States Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, to discuss strategic cooperation in defence and security.

The Ministry said the officials also discussed global and regional security challenges, and pointed out the progress achieved by Georgia on its NATO integration path, and the “significant contribution” made by the country to ensuring international security.

The meeting also covered the steps taken to strengthen defence capabilities and future development plans, and noted the importance of the growing US foreign defence funding and joint international exercises.

Burchuladze expressed his gratitude to the US side for its “exemplary partnership, political and practical support”.

The meeting also featured US Ambassador Robin Dunnigan and Colonel Joseph Bilbo, the US Defence Attaché in Georgia.
