Armenian PM in Tbilisi to attend 4th Silk Road Forum

Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister of Armenia, on Thursday arrived in Tbilisi with his delegation to open the fourth edition of the Silk Road Forum hosted in the Georgian capital along with counterparts from Georgia, Azerbaijan and Montenegro and the Vice President of the Asian Development Bank. 

The official was welcomed by Irakli Karseladze, the Georgian Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, at Tbilisi Airport, along with the country’s Ambassador to Armenia and the Armenian Ambassador to Georgia, the Government press office said.  

The latest edition of the large-scale event initiated by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in 2015 will officially open later on Thursday by the PMs and the ADB official in the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theatre, and will feature more than 2,000 delegates and guests more than 60 foreign states to discuss factors that “effectively define regional and global trade and connectivity”, the organisers said. 

Levan Davitashvili, the Georgian Vice PM and Minister of Economy, hosted most of the headlining officials in an official reception in Tbilisi late on Wednesday, with the attendees representing high-ranking officials of European and Asian states, representatives of international organisations and institutions, and leaders of the global business sector. 

The Forum’s key topics for discussion will include a new architecture of the East-West trade, the increasing role of the Middle Corridor logistics route between China and Europe, digital connectivity, diversification in the energy sector, tourism sustainability and diversified investments for a resilient future.

The Forum will close on Friday.
