Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Friday said the National Assembly of Bulgaria had adopted a declaration in favour of granting Georgia the European Union membership candidate status that was “yet another bold demonstration of our friends’ support”.
In his social media post, Darchiashvili said his country “greatly” appreciated Bulgaria’s support on the EU integration path, noting “together, we pave the way for a brighter, united future”.

The Georgian FM said the Bulgarian parliament’s decision was “especially exciting”, as the legislative body had made “an important decision” during his visit to the country.
Earlier on Friday, Georgia's EU integration and cooperation were discussed by Darchiashvili and his Bulgarian counterpart Mariya Gabriel.
