Cooperation between the Georgian Interior Ministry and the United Nations Women Organisation and milestones achieved within it were in focus of a meeting between Georgia’s Deputy Interior Minister Aleksandre Darakhvelidze and Kaori Ishikawa, the Country Representative of UN Women Georgia on Friday.

The Ministry cited Darakhvelidze as highlighting reforms at the body with the engagement of UN Women, including amendments on the use of electronic tags on offenders convicted of gender-related crimes against women.

Darakhvelidze also expressed his gratitude to the organisation for its support and contribution to the institutional development of the state body.

UN Women has been working in Georgia since 2001, establishing a full Country Office in 2013.
