Irakli Karseladze, the Georgian Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, and Rolande Pryce, the World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus, on Thursday discussed the completed, ongoing and planned infrastructure projects in the country through the Bank’s financial support.
In a Tbilisi meeting, the Minister briefed the Bank’s officials about the progress and results of the construction and renovation projects of municipal and tourist infrastructure, cultural heritage and socially important facilities as part of the international institution’s programmes, the Ministry press office said.
The Bank’s representatives “positively assessed” the progress of ongoing projects and expressed hope for fruitful cooperation in the future, the Ministry also said.
The Roads Department of Georgia has become a member of the World Road Association at the World Road Congress, an event aimed at discussing trends and challenges of road infrastructure in Prague this week, the Infrastructure Ministry said on Wednesday.

The progress of ongoing important projects in Georgia, supported by the European Investment Bank, was reviewed on Thursday by Infrastructure Minister Irakli Karseladze and the delegation of the Bank, the Infrastructure Ministry said.
The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia on Thursday announced the launch of a ₾1 billion ($382mln), five-year programme for renovation and development of infrastructure in 11 locations across the country. Venues and monuments in cities and towns will go under works as part of the programme initiated by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia exceeded its approved budget for the first nine months of 2023 by 108.2 percent, spending ₾176.1 million ($65.84mln) more than proscribed by the financial plan, the state body revealed on Tuesday.
