Georgia loses to Norway, U21 team defeats Moldova in Euro qualifiers

The Georgian national football team on Tuesday lost 2:1 to Norway in the UEFA 2024 European Championship qualifier fixture, while the Under-21 national team defeated Moldova in their qualifying stage match for the 2025 European Championship.

The senior team, coached by Willy Sagnol, were defeated as Budu Zivzivadze scored their only goal in the first minute of extra time.

The result places the team fourth in the group behind Norway and ahead of the last-placed Cyprus, with Scotland leading with 15 points and followed by Spain with nine. Georgia have four points, three less than Norway.

Coached by Ramaz Svanadze, the U21 team has six points and is in second place in Group C of their qualifiers after defeating Gibraltar and Moldova. 

Their next match is against group leaders The Netherlands on October 12, with the game set to be played in Georgia's Black Sea city of Batumi.
