Tbilisi City Hall said heavy rainfall and strong wind late on Tuesday affected Georgia’s capital Tbilisi, causing damage to electricity cables and flooding streets and underpasses.
All relevant agencies of the Tbilisi Municipality, together with the Emergency Management Service, are “fully mobilised” to eliminate the problems, the body noted, adding representatives of all district administrations of the capital were at the site.
The City Hall asked citizens to refrain from moving on the streets and “if necessary”, call the hotline - 2 72 22 22.
In a video address, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze rejected the misinformation that the heavy rainfall had caused problems on the new road in Vere Valley and the traffic movement was restricted, urging everyone not to spread unverified information.
He said the Gldani district was the most affected by the rainfall, noting all relevant agencies of the City Hall were taking all necessary measures.
