Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Friday highlighted financial investment by Bidzina Ivanishvili, the former Prime Minister and founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party, into the country’s western region of Adjara, in comments at the Parliament.

In a response to a comment during his annual report on the work of the Government, Garibashvili said Ivanishvili had invested “billions of dollars” in the Black Sea region and its capital of Batumi over the years.

He said the investment had also “transformed the whole area” of the seaside resort town of Shekvetili.
