Georgian, Azerbaijani diplomats hold political consultations on ties, regional matters

Cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan and developments in the South Caucasus region were discussed on Monday in a meeting between the Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Lasha Darsalia and his Azerbaijani counterpart Khalaf Khalafov. 

Hosted as part of political consultations between the two states, the meeting discussed the existing “close” cooperation between the two countries, which the sides said was “successfully developing both in bilateral and multilateral formats”, the Georgian foreign office said.

The officials expressed their willingness to “further” deepen bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, culture and other fields.

The conversation also focused on the situation in the region, challenges and peaceful solutions. 

The parties noted the importance of peace and stability, and the special contribution and cooperation of Georgia and Azerbaijan for a stable development of the region.

The meeting also reviewed delimitation and the demarcation of the state border between the two countries, and the possibility of holding another session of state commissions on the matter.
