The importance of the strategic partnership between Georgia and the United States was discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Derek Mitchell, the President of the National Democratic Institute, an American non-governmental organisation.
The meeting focused on the importance of NDI's “long-term and active” involvement in supporting democratic institutions, strengthening civil society and good governance in Georgia, the Government Administration said.
The officials expressed their willingness to see continued “dynamics of successful cooperation” between the Georgian Government and NDI, and to see a number of “important joint projects” implemented in the future.
The meeting also reviewed the process of “successful implementation” of the European Union conditions for granting the country the membership candidate status, with Garibashvili “once again” confirming his Government’s commitment to integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures.
