Georgian Greco-Roman wrestlers claimed three gold, three silver and two bronze medals at the Under-17 European Championships in Tirana running this week.

Erekle Tavberidze won the title in the 55 kg category with a 3-2 victory over Moldova’s Maxim Sarmanov.

The haul of the top results also saw Saba Purtseladze win gold in the 92 kg section, while Saba Chilashvili added his top result in the 110 kg.

Iuri Chapidze earned a silver in the 48 kg category, with Giorgi Tchikaidze and Luka Lomadze scoring the same result in the 65 kg and 71 kg respectively.

Koba Karumidze and Saba Surmanidze claimed bronze medals in their 51 kg and 60 kg respective weight categories after defeating Turkish and Hungarian opponents.

With the combined results, Georgia also earned the first place in the team rankings at the event running through Sunday.
