A mural of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the Georgian winger of the Italian club Napoli, has been unveiled in Georgia's seaside city of Batumi to promote sports tourism and healthy lifestyle, the regional Adjara Tourism Department said on Tuesday.
The mural was unveiled ahead of the 2023 UEFA European U21 Championship, co-hosted by Georgia and Romania between June 21-July 8, with games in the former country to be played in Tbilisi, Batumi and Kutaisi.
It was designed by artist Giorgi Gamezardashvili, or Gameza, with a Street Art Fest crew working to produce the painting covering 430 square metres on a Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University wall, next to the seaside boulevard in the city, over 10 days.
The Department said it would use the mural to promote Batumi as a city hosting sporting events and encouraging sports tourism “in target countries”
