Public information on dangers of early and childhood marriage and video messaging functionality for the deaf and hard of hearing have been added to the mobile application offered by Georgia’s Public Safety Management Centre to individuals requiring assistance across the country.
The Interior Ministry said on Monday the updated application was unveiled in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund at an event involving officials from the UNFPA and the Ministry, along with representatives from partner and international organisations.
In the event, organisers presented the new information made available in the application, with laws related to early and childhood marriage and legal responsibility for offenders outlined for citizens across the country.
The addition comes via the UN programme for gender equality, supported by the Swedish Government.
In the other major update to the app, those with hearing difficulties can now use the video call functionality to get in touch with operators of the 112 emergency number of the Centre.
The presentation also showed the application versions in Armenian and Azerbaijani languages for respective communities in the country.
