Iris Antman, a 47-year-old coach from Israel, will lead Georgian women's national football team as their new head coach, the Georgian Football Federation announced on Monday.
The former assistant head coach of the Israeli national team led the squad for five years and also coached the country’s Under-17 and Under-19 women’s teams during her 13-year career so far.
“I believe that with hard work, commitment and discipline, we will produce a team the entire [Georgian] nation can be proud of”, Antman said in comments on the appointment.
A former player herself, Antman played as a goalkeeper for Maccabi Haifa, Maccabi Holon, Maccabi Tzur Shalom Bialik and Israel’s women's national team.
She will work as the head coach of the Georgian squad through 2024, with the team set to compete in League C of the UEFA Women's Nations League. Matches of the tournament are scheduled to run between September 20-December 5.
