Georgia will join Wings For Life World Run, a global charity event held in hundreds of locations across the world, for the 10th time next month, with thousands of participants expected to join the contest in the country's eastern Kakheti region.

The Ministry of Culture, Sport and Youth Affairs said on Wednesday about 7,000 participants and fans were expected to highlight the domestic edition on May 7

Registration for the Georgia event will be open until May 4, with a ₾30 ($11.74) entry fee. All money raised from the fees will be donated to research for a cure for spinal cord injuries.

Held simultaneously in locations across the world, Wings for Life World Run events mark a charity effort to raise funds and awareness for the research.

More than a million people, among them 33,000 in Georgia, have participated in the run since 2014, with €38.3 million raised internationally.
