Journalists and ski influencers from Germany are visiting Georgia’s north-western highland Svaneti region to promote qualifying competitions for the ongoing Freeride World Tour, the Georgian National Tourism Administration said on Friday.

After exploring tourist destinations of the region, the influencers and reporters of popular mountain sports publications will publish articles, blog posts and TV reports about regional visitor attractions and the sporting contest, the GNTA added.

The competition - which involves events on difficult mountainous terrain and untracked snow locations both on skis and snowboards - is being hosted on the slopes of Tetnuldi Mountain, with dozens of Georgian and foreign athletes taking part.

Organised by the Georgian company White Rabbit, it is supported by the Economic Security Programme of the United States Agency for International Development, Georgia’s Mountain Trails Agency, the country’s National Tourism Administration and the Georgian Ski Federation.

Launched on Thursday, the World Tour will close on Sunday.
