Three fishermen in Mexican territorial waters were rescued on Thursday by a crew of a vessel involving Georgian sailor Armaz Ardzenadze after the group’s boat filled with water and stranded its occupants, the Georgian Maritime Transport Agency said on Tuesday.
The agency said the fishermen had become stranded after their catch overloaded the boat and the vessel took in water on Wednesday.
Left without equipment, the group had been stranded for 12 hours before a sailor on the watch of MH COLUMBIA, a ship with Ardzenadze in its crew, heard their calls in the early hours of the morning on Thursday.
Navigating to the fishermen without visual contact, the vessel rescued the stranded group after a four-hour, “complex” operation, the Maritime Agency said.
