Companies or individuals that have been subject to international sanctions on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine are barred from registering as entities in Georgia, Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi, said on Monday.
In comments on the subject of Russian citizens allegedly registering companies in Georgia since the commencement of sanctions against Russia, Kaladze said information on sanctioned companies and individuals was “public knowledge”, making it “easy to verify” their identity to prevent registrations.
The Tbilisi Mayor said “many” citizens of Russia and Belarus were entering Georgia in addition to those from Ukraine, adding those not subject to sanctions would have the opportunity to “do business in a free environment” in the country.
