The Georgia Rugby Union has launched an initiative to collect humanitarian aid to support Ukrainian citizens affected by the war.

In a post published on Facebook, the national body for the sport asked the public to deliver non-perishable food, medicines, diapers and personal hygiene items for children and adults to addresses in three cities across Georgia.

The GRU will collect items from its Shevardeni base in capital Tbilisi, located at 112 Gabriel Salosi Street, as well as the Aia Arena stadium in the western city of Kutaisi, located at 65 Konstantine Gamsakhurdia Street, and the Batumi rugby stadium in the Black Sea city’s 2 Gogla Leonidze Street.

The Union said the list of the sought-after items had been provided by Dimitri Basilaia, a former Georgian rugby player who currently lives in Ukraine and is working to take care of locals alongside his friends amid the conflict.
