Georgian paralympic committee funds Ukrainian para powerlifters at European Open Championships in Tbilisi

The Georgian paralympic committee hosts the Ukrainian national team in Para powerlifting with its funds at the European Open Championships, which opened on Saturday and will run till Thursday, in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi.

The committee wished Ukrainian “friends”, the national team consisting of ten athletes, success. At the opening ceremony, hosted by international commentator Richard Mason, the president of the Georgian paralympic committee and a member of the parliament, Rati Ionatamishvili addressed the participants along with Ioseb Bagaturia, the deputy sports minister.

Kakha Kakhiashvili, the president of the Georgian weightlifting federation, three-time Olympic champion and four-time European champion, and Lasha Talakhadze, two-time Olympic champion in weightlifting, five-time world and European champion, also attended the opening of the championship.

International Para powerlifting competition is hosted in Tbilisi for the third time, since it held the Para Powerlifting World Cup in May 2021 and the World Para Powerlifting Championships from 27 November to 6 December 2021.
