Georgian Patrol Inspector Gela Kvashilava won a civil dispute against the opposition-minded TV Pirveli over spreading false information in Tbilisi Court of Appeals on Thursday.
The Court of Appeals upheld the November 19 decision made by Tbilisi City Court, which obliged TV Pirveli to pay compensation for moral damage to Kvashilava after the television channel accused him of drug trafficking.
TV Pirveli was further ordered to announce the court's decision on its broadcast.
Kvashilava initially filed a lawsuit against TV Pirveli in February 2021.
It was false information and fabricated news spread about me. I am deeply confident that justice will be served," he said.
The court eventually ruled that Kvashilava was not involved with drug trafficking, while TV Pirveli "deliberately misled" the public.
